Dr Azeem Alam BEM

Although Azeem grew up in a medical household, music was his first love. Over the years, he’s thrown himself into both worlds whilst actively seeking new challenges. He has co-founded BiteMedicine, a medical education platform, authored several research papers, and was included in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List 2021.

Dr Chiara Bucciarelli-Ducci

Many would see gender imbalance as regressive, but for cardiologist Chiara (PhD Medicine 2012) it’s an opportunity to share a unique perspective and inspire change. An extrovert and risk-taker, her spirited approach to life has seen her win several prestigious awards in cardiovascular research - often as the youngest ever recipient.

Dr Harsh Pershad

Harsh (Chemistry 1996, MBA 2014) is an energy innovation specialist who believes that to address the most pressing issue of our time in global warming, we need to inspire passion for change at the highest levels of government and business. He’s also active in encouraging LGBT+ visibility in the workplace.

Mervin Azeta

Mervin Azeta

When Mervin (MSc Sustainable Energy Futures 2015) experienced the tragic loss of an auntie due to a power outage, it ignited her ambition to solve problems and sparked a lifelong commitment to making energy available to all. Mervin supports females in STEM and is shaping the future as product and service delivery manager at Schlumberger.

Dr Reeba Oliver

Dr Reeba Oliver

Reeba Oliver (PhD Medicine 2009) was born into a family of doctors. As a consultant gynaecologist, she established the UK’s first walk-in clinic for victims of female genital mutilation. She also set up a charity clinic in central London to help upskill homeless people. Selflessness was a key feature of her upbringing, and that shines brightly through her work today.

Whether it’s changing career direction or tackling gender imbalance in STEM, Tony (MEng Aeronautics 2007), a leader in Asian aerospace, approaches every challenge with curiosity and courage. Alongside his role at aerospace manufacturer Pratt & Whitney, he’s inspiring the next generation with events, challenges and video competitions capturing the imagination of millions.
