HAPPOLD TRUST: Happold Student Scholarship programme 2012-13
Student Sponsorship with the Happold Trust for studies in the built environment.
Buro Happold is a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy founded in 1976 by the late Sir Ted Happold. It provides a broad portfolio of design and consulting engineering services and strategic advice for the Built Environment across the World. The Practice has contributed to the design and construction of some of the world’s most prestigious developments in the Built Environment including a range of major buildings, bridges and masterplans.
Each year the Trust sponsors a number of students entering the final year of their MEng or a similar course who intend to pursue a professional career in the planning, design and development of the Natural and Built Environment, Building Engineering Physics, Building Services, Civil and Structural Engineering or related professional careers in the development of the Built Environment.
The successful scholars from across the world will be awarded a £1500 (or equivalent) scholarship and will be given the opportunity to spend eight paid weeks during the summer working in one of Buro Happold’s offices in the UK, Central Europe, Middle or Far East, or USA (or similar organisations). As well as being reimbursed for their time, the scholar will experience working life within one of industry’s most creative and dynamic design and strategic consultancies.
This international scholarship programme anticipates scholars will participate in mentoring, outreach visits and presentations to schools. It offers further opportunities after graduation in areas of relevant interest to expand the Scholar’s global outlook. This could be through undertaking voluntary secondments in developing countries or other similar challenging ventures. The aim of the programme is to create an Alumni of Global Ambassadors for future leadership in the Built Environment.
The deadline for receiving applications is the 10 February 2012. Interviews will be conducted between February – March 2012 and we aim to confirm the selected Scholars sometime in April 2011.
