TARGET EVENTS: It's not just for the boys! Friday 30 March 2012

IT's not just for the boys! This event is for female undergraduates and gives an insight into technology careers with leading employers.

Building on the success of previous events we are very pleased that IT's not just for the boys! will be happening again. Taking place on 30 March 2012 the event is designed to inspire and educate female undergraduates on the opportunities available to them within the technology sector. The event incorporates a variety of sessions that discuss topical issues in the sector and the experiences of successful female technologists, and gives an overview of the application and interview process to raise awareness on how to be a successful candidate.

Here are the thoughts of one of the attendees:

'I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to attend the event last year, it provided me with an insight into the sector. It allowed me to speak to women within IT and I benefitted from hearing about their careers and job descriptions.

'Some of the guests that presented at the event really opened my eyes and pushed me to apply for jobs that I may not have otherwise applied for before attending. The event provided me with the confidence to network and meet various people from within the IT sector.'

Feedback from the attendees of the event has been very positive and all delegates arrived at the event with objectives in mind on what they wanted to achieve:

The event is being held in London on the afternoon of Friday 30 March 2012 and will give you the opportunity to:

• Network with recruiters, senior figures and recent graduates from the sponsoring firms
• Develop your skills to be a success at applications and interviews
• Get the inside view of the sector from industry experts
• Explore the range of technology careers open to you.

All invited delegates will be sent full details and an event programme in advance of attending, however as a guide the event will run from mid-afternoon to early evening and include:

• Welcome and guest speaker
• Skills workshop with graduate recruiters
• Panel discussion with industry experts
• Networking and drinks reception
• Refreshments will be provided and a contribution towards travel expenses will be available.

Who can apply?

• You must be a female undergraduate studying at a university in the UK or Europe
• You must be able to demonstrate academic excellence.

Applications are now open via the online TARGETevents application form. You will need to complete a short application form and attach a cover letter and your CV. Your cover letter should include your motivations for attending the event.
