CMS/Update – Forthcoming changes
There are changes in the pipeline for file uploading, template design and PWP layout
- Collaboration Suite includes a document management facility called 'Content Services'. This will allow site managers and others to upload and update documents. The Web Team are developing a new version of the File Upload wizard which will link directly to files held in Content Services instead of loading them into Oracle Portal itself. When the new File Upload is implemented, existing files in Portal will stay where they are but new files will go into Content Services. The Collaboration Suite changes will go into pilot testing shortly.
- Template redesign. You should all have had an email recently from Caroline Davis in Communications telling you about the redesign project and giving you a link to the redesign site http://www.imperial.ac.uk/webredesign where you can find more details. We hope that implementing the new templates will not mean a lot of work for site owners, apart from checking. However, if you have any fancy formatting for your pages, you may find this does not work as well in the new templates, so our advice is to keep your pages simple! Any questions about the redesign should go to the project team - see http://www.imperial.ac.uk/webredesign/abouttheproject/projectstructure
- PWP changes. Some formatting changes will be implemented soon, including combining the Home and Personal Information pages as one page, and outlining some of the content areas. We will also add a description field to the definition of Research Areas which PWP owners can assign.
