The Association of Imperial College Alumni in Pakistan arranged an excursion to Fimkassar Oil Field, one of the oil fields run by the State owned Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL). More than 45 alumni and their families has responded to the invitation and they were all given a very educational and interesting talk followed by a tour of the premises.
The visit was hosted by an Imperial alumnus, Dr Saeed Khan Jadoon (PhD, Earth Science and Engineering, 1991) and he gave a talk on geological environments and processes that result in the formation and storage of oil and gas in earth.
After the talk, the participants were given a guided tour of three sites including the water injection plant and the oil production wells. Field staff provided information on the history of the field, its present status and future development plans.
Having completed the guided tour, participants were treated to a sumptous lunch and had plenty of opportunity to talk about the day’s activities.
The Alumni Association would like to thank OGDCL for their kind hospitality and look forward to meeting with more members again soon.
