Advances is back!
The Annual Advances course is back at Silwood Park for January 2009! Entitled Advances in population and community ecology it is a mixture of practicles and lectures.
The course (suitable for second year Ph.D. students and above) will describe current theory and modelling approaches used to gain understanding in population and community ecology. Lectures will focus on a specific piece of theory or a specific approach to modelling. The practicals each afternoon provide an opportunity to apply the theory learnt in the morning lectures. Participants on the course will leave with a good understanding of how theory and models are developed and used to provide insight into the modus operandi of key processes associated with population and community dynamics. They will also understand the assumptions underlying theory, and the strengths and limitations of the different approaches used.
