An annual event since 1873, the Royal School of Mines Association’s Annual Dinners were originally held under the name RSM Old Students’ Dining Club.

There was a return to elegance for the event on 21 November 2008 dinner with a black tie dress code for the event, which was held in the ballroom of Exhibition Road’s Polish Club, Ognisko.

Alumni sponsorship subsidised the cost of student tickets, both from those attending as well as those that were unable to join the group. Alumni, guests and students alike enjoyed the evening, which included a very entertaining talk given by guest speaker Mark Burridge (Geology 1990), Chief Executive Officer of Cambrian Mining.
