THE WORKSHOP: Graduate Entry into Medicine Conference - Saturday 28 to Sunday 29 March 2009
A two day conference for graduates and mature students considering a career in medicine.
University of Nottingham Medical School
28th - 29th March 2009
Increasingly medical schools are offering Graduate Entry into Medicine (GEM) courses to mature students; recognising the valuable contribution to be made by candidates who are currently pursuing degrees other than medicine or who may already have a career or be a homemaker. Whilst entry at age 18 has merit, it is recognised that graduate applicants are able to bring a maturity and ‘life experience’ to their role as medical student and then doctor, that can make a significant contribution to their role as future clinicians. It is the purpose of this conference to ensure that you have information and contacts of the highest quality to help you decide if a GEM course is for you, and if it is how to identify and then select the GEM course most appropriate to you.
Benefits:
- Routes to deciding which GEM course is right for you
- Importance of Problem Based Learning in medicine
- Tour the wide range of medical facilities on campus
- Meet with experts from the medical school
- Practice essential clinical skills you will need
- Discover the qualities needed to succeed
