AICA alumni visit the Attock Oil Refinery in Pakistan

Over 25 alumni and their families enjoyed a day trip to the Attock Oil Refinery in Morgah, Rawalpindi, Pakistan on Sunday 19 April 2009.

Organised by the Association of Imperial College Alumni Pakistan (AICA), the guided tour around the Refinery provided the perfect opportunity for AICA members and their families to learn all about the principles and procedures involved in the processing of oil refinement.

The Attock Refinery is the oldest in Pakistan dating back to the early nineteen hundreds and currently refines about 42,000 barrels of crude oil of various specifications per day, which are collected from a number of small sized oil fields of the Potowar Plateau. In addition to the active refinery, Attock also hosts a number of abandoned refineries, which have been converted into museums.
