Advances in Population and Community Ecology 2010

The popular Advances in Population and Commuinity Ecology will be run from the 18th-30th January 2010 inclusive.

The course will be suitable for second year PhD students and above and will describe current theory and modelling approaches used to gain understanding in population and community ecology.

Lectures will focus on a specific piece of theory or a specific approach to modelling. The practicals each afternoon provide an opportunity to apply the theory learnt in the morning lectures. Participants on the course will leave with a good understanding of how theory and models are developed and used. They will also understand the assumptions underlying theory, and the strengths and limitations of the different approaches used.

Course participants should be interested in learning how to constuct and analyse a range of models for population and communities found in variable environments. Computer practicals will be taught in R so some experience of R would also be desirable.
