Professor Nigel Bell gives a lecture on the Chernobyl Accident of 1986

Ambassador Professor Nigel Bell treated over 20 alumni and guests to an exclusive evening lecture on the Chernobyl Accident of 1986 on Friday 31 July 2009 in Hong Kong.

Organised by the Imperial College Alumni Association of Hong Kong (ICAAHK), the alumni event was held at SPACE lecture room at United Centre, Admiralty, Hong Kong.

In his lecture, Professor Nigel Bell, Professor of Environmental Pollution at Imperial College, focused on the environmental impacts of the disaster. Alumni were surprised to see how much of an ecological recovery Chernobyl and its surrounding area had made over the past twenty years. Following the lecture, Professor Bell answered a number of questions, after which he had an enjoyable dinner with members of the ICAAHK.
