Welcome to Dr Tom Bond

Dr Tom BondWelcome to Dr Thomas Bond who joined EWRE section recently from Cranfield University. Tom is working with Dr Mike Templeton  as a Post-Doc Research Associate on "The Formation and Occurrence of N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) and Other N-Nitrosamines in UK Drinking Water" 


   Professor Cedo MaksimovicProfesor Cedo Maksimovic reports that the EC/EA funded project "Decentralised Integrated Analysis and Enhancement of Awareness through Collaborative Modelling and Management of Flood Risk (DIANE-CM) " has officially started on the 1st October 2009. The project will last 22 months and in addition to our team there are two other patners form Germany (Luphana university) and UNESCI-IHE Delft (The Netheralnds). 

AND

He was invited to Sao Paulo, Brazil to provide expert advice on strategies in mitigating problem of frequent surface flooding in the city centre. The consultations are part of implementation of the Drainage Master plan of the Upper Tiete river. He is also invited to deliver a "state-of-the-art" lecture in Rio de Janeiro in Jan 2010 to mark the inception phase of this project.

Dr Cheeseman and Dr Ana Guerroro the conference organiserDr Chris Cheeseman gave the Conferencia Inaugural lecture at Rmat 09, the 1st Conferencia Nacional sobre Avances en el Reciclado de Materiales y Eco Energia, held at the Eduardo Torroja Institute in Madrid on 12-13 November 2009. The lecture was on the ‘Role of Materials Development in Resource Efficiency'.

 


shane DonatelloShane Donatello successfully defended his PhD at a viva examination on November 30th . The thesis was entitled ‘Characterisation of incinerated sewage sludge ashes: potential for phosphate extraction and re-use as a pozzolanic material in construction products'. The project was supervised by Dr Chris Cheeseman and Dr Mark Tyrer. The examiners were Professor Stephen Smith (ICL) and Dr Glynn Skerratt from Staffordshire University.
