Work funded by the BHF Centre at Imperial was recently presented at the Summer Reception of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Medical Research, held at the Houses of Parliament

On Monday 19th July, Professor Peter Weinberg (from the Department of Bioengineering) attended the Summer Reception of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Medical Research at the Houses of Parliament. The event showcased the UK's excellent medical research base, including the significant contribution made by medical research charities.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) had chosen to showcase the work of Professor Weinberg and his colleague Professor Spencer Sherwin (Department of Aeronautics), with a poster featuring their work, in particular their studies looking at whether flow features can explain patterns of permeability and disease. This work is being undertaken by two postdoctoral scientists (Lindsey Clarke and Ana Plata Garcia) both of whom are funded by the BHF Centre of Research Excellence at Imperial College.

To emphasise the involvement of aeronautical engineers, the text of the poster was arranged in the shape of an aeroplane. The cross disciplinary nature of the BHF Centre was explained to the MPs in attendance, and was very well received.
