The Incubator plans to run a number of events to support the development of clinical academics/researchers across the country. The events will be for clinical staff who are either already doing or interested in undertaking research.

We are in the process of designing a conference on 12 March 2025 in Leeds. Please check back here in the coming months for further details.

NIHR Mentoring programme

The NIHR Mentoring Programme has expanded. More early career researchers and mid career researchers can now take part in the scheme as mentees and mentors.

You will benefit from one-to-one support that will enable you to develop your career. Mentees and mentors gain new perspectives, fresh ideas and expand their professional networks.

The mentoring programme will enable you:
• To take part in mentoring - not all industries and professions have a strong mentoring tradition.
• To collaborate with professionals from other disciplines
• To build relationships with individuals from different organisations
• To engage with and learn from under-represented groups
• Mentoring programme - mentor and mentee applications now open

They are looking for researchers based in NIHR infrastructure, research units and schools to take part in the programme.

NIHR Pre-Application Support Fund Webinar - find out more

The webinar on Tuesday 22nd October 2024 3-4pm will provide an overview of the scheme, top tips for applications and the opportunity to asks any questions you may have.

The Pre-Application Support Fund provides funding that individuals can use to help prepare a larger application for an NIHR career development scheme. It is aimed at individuals that require additional support to submit a competitive application. Through providing additional funding, the Pre-Application Support Fund aims to enhance the opportunities available to those that otherwise would not have sufficient support to apply for NIHR career development funding.

Round 4 is currently open to applications with a deadline of 28 November 2024.

RadResearch - Starting and Growing Your Research Career Q&A

Join us at this FREE, virtual, lunchtime session – in which you will get the chance to ask your burning questions to our clinical academics.

Designed for Radiographers who are new to the world of research, this session aims to provide you with answers to questions you may have such:
• ‘Who should I talk to about doing research?’
• ‘How do I get enough experience to be ready to apply for a pre-doc?’
• ‘What steps can I take to develop my research CV?’
• ‘How can I get involved in research when I have no idea where to start?’

In order to support aspiring research radiographers, senior researchers have designed this virtual event with the lives of busy clinicians in mind. There will be five short (10 min or less) on line recordings of presentations that will be released sequentially in the weeks prior for you to watch. You can choose which ones are relevant to you on your journey - it might be one or two, or all of them!
